Writing 201: Poetry, Day 2

Journey, Limerick, Alliteration

The Circus Town

To all the travelers-

From hitch hikers new in town
to that weird guy, the class clown,
the kids in the corners
to the three job jugglers.
Welcome to the circus town.

To the queens without the crown
the magician’s assistant without a pretty gown,
the pot smokers
to the ‘not so funny’ jokers.
Welcome to the circus town.

The ringmasters without a whip
to magicians without a trick,
the tight rope walkers
to the shifty pocket pickers,
Even the boys who never sleeps

This is where the carnival never ends
where the rules of the outside bends,
a place with open gates
where all your journey awaits-
for you, to begin.
